A little more body work done on the Cabby for this update and Doug actually took some time to get paint on one of the doors. The decklid and hood still need some work, along with the front fenders, but we figured we'd show you how beautifully that one door turned out so you can get an idea of just how nice this once unloved car is going to be.

Don't forget this car is for sale as it sits now, ready for your project directions, or after we're done making it all pretty. Interested parties can contact us via 941.378.9064 or info@b-p-design.com.

These pics show the quality of Doug's work after just one round of wet-sanding and buffing.

Here are some even earlier pics posted to show how far this car will have come when we're done.

Notice the sweet I/F (interfooler)!

With this project we thought we'd offer a glimpse into how a regular car becomes a bpd Project Primer.

This 1995 Cabrio 2.0 was purchased by us in a pretty sorry state. Originally an automatic, we swapped in a 5-speed - not out of necessity, mind you, but rather as a matter of principle. Mechanically, the car is in good shape and has less than 100k on the odometer. The body certainly was showing its age, with practically every panel on the car demonstratinging some sort of damage. Even its convertible top has a nice tear in it, though the inner padding and headliner are still in good shape. Not a pretty car to begin with by any means, but the car has no serious rust to speak of and will clean up very nicely.

We at bpd have a bit of a soft spot for VW's ultimate "chick car" (they really are great all-around cars with lots of potential) and though the car definitely looked a bit rough at first, we saw a diamond in the rough and a great Project Primer candidate. The goal with this Primer is to get the body, top and interior sorted and presentable and then move the car over to the Vehicles section of our website. From there, we'll offer it for sale as a bpd Primer and leave it up to its next owner to decide what direction to head next. Though we've got it set up for a Kinetic Motorsport 2.0 8v turbo system, a driveline swap is still an easy option. VR6? 1.8T? You tell us. And though the car is black with a black top and cloth interior, we're happy to paint it whatever color you like.

Follow along with us as we get this Ugly Betty on the road to Prom Queen status (or something considerably less cheesy), and if you're interested in taking over the reins from here, shoot us an email or give us a call and we'll discuss more options and pricing.
